This is an important cause to me because I am a survivor of HELLP Syndrome. At 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I was told that I had a life-threatening condition that meant I had to deliver my baby prematurely. After two days of induced labor and not much progress, my blood platelet count and liver numbers were continuing to trend in the wrong direction. My baby boy was delivered via emergency c section at 35 weeks to the day! Thankfully, he remained healthy through everything. It has been a long road to recovery, and I know that I am at risk of developing HELLP again in a future pregnancy. I had never even heard of this illness when I developed it, so I am hoping to raise awareness for moms and babies everywhere.
