I serve on the board of Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP).  VMP is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1993 that provides training and support to mentors and mentoring programs across Virginia.  Our vision is that every child who needs a mentor has a mentor. VMP supports mentoring programs across the state by providing training for mentors and staff, assisting with mentor recruitment, and in some cases even providing a staff member to increase capacity through our VISTA program.  

Volunteer mentors and mentoring programs rely on VMP to help them provide high-quality mentoring to youth, reaching an estimated 35,000 youth across Virginia. However, there are still 150,000 young people in Virginia are in need of a mentoring relationships with caring adults and more than 1,500 children are on waitlists for mentors in local programs.  

Please help me reach my goal of raising money by September 1st to train the 2000 mentors to support our 2016 - 2017 school year!
