Many people are shocked to learn that Canada’s animal protection laws are some of the worst in the western world. Canada has no federal regulations for the treatment of animals in farms and labs. Canada's transport laws are so weak that each year at least 1.59 million cows, pigs, and chickens arrive dead or dying at slaughterhouses. In Canada, it’s legal to import cat and dog fur, elephant ivory, and trophy hunting parts. In Canada, it’s legal to kill and eat your own pet !! We still have a long way to go to bring Canada’s animal protection laws into the 21st century. 

Animal Justice looks for long term solutions to improve the lives of animals across Canada through legal and political platforms. This year, Animal Justice helped Parliament pass three ground-breaking new laws for animals that ban the captivity of whales, outlaw shark fin imports, prohibit the sexual abuse of animals, and close animal fighting loopholes.

I am going #Voiceless4AnimalJustice on November 9th to help the lawyers at Animal Justice continue their amazing work - transforming Canada’s legal and political systems to give animals legal protection from cruelty.
