Almost 4yrs ago, a kitty came into our yard, shortly after moving out into the country from the city. He was abandoned from his original owners, left to fend for himself in our cold northern winter. He was badly beaten with a shovel, from someone that didnt want him in their yard. His face was bloody. We rushed him to the vet. At some point his tail froze half off. From the guy who beat him, he lost 3 teeth and his back was broken. He was left partially paralyzed. We kept him, helped him get better and had a wonderful 2 years with him. He ended up having complications due to paralyzation that could not be overcome and we had to heartbreakingly say goodbye to him. The guy who beat him got off without so much as a scratch (pun intended). The police would do nothing because even with witnesses, they said they had no proof. This man is still abusing animals. He is a backyard breeder. He raises them to be very aggressive and sells them as guard dogs. Again, nothing the police can do. The laws in Canada need to change to allow voice to all helpless animals, and hold those accountable that commit these atrocious crimes.
