On October 25, animal advocates from coast to coast are pledging to go voiceless to help the millions of animals whose suffering is hidden by ag gag laws.
"Agricultural gag" laws are designed to conceal widespread cruelty at farms and slaughterhouses by punishing those who expose it. Canada has some of the worst animal protection laws in the Western world, and unlike many other developed nations, we lack provincial and federal laws that regulate the treatment of animals on farms, as well as proactive government inspections.
Millions of animals are suffering right now in terrifying factory farms, and undercover investigations are one of the only ways to expose the truth about how farmed animals are treated. Secretly-recorded footage from Canadian farms has revealed extreme animal cruelty and horrifying standard industry practices like cages and mutilations, yet these new ag gag laws make it increasingly dangerous for animal advocates, whistleblowers, journalists, or citizens to speak up. Animals and whistleblowers are being silenced by ag gag laws and Animal Justice needs your help to challenge them in court.
That’s why we are going “voiceless” in solidarity with the cows, pigs, and chickens whose cries go ignored, and the brave people who are punished for uncovering animal abuse under ag gag laws. Will you join us?
