In March 2019, my sister, Jessica, and brother-in-law, Josh, took my nephew, Holden, to the hospital following abnormal test results from their family physician. I stayed home with my niece, Piper, while I waited for an update. I was shocked and heartbroken to receive the text that said “it’s blood cancer”.
Things moved quickly from there, and shortly after Holden’s diagnosis my sister was contacted by ASK. This organization helped their family financially, emotionally, and physically. ASK has paid their mortgage, sent Piper to preschool, and provided care for Holden during his stays in the hospital so Jessica and Josh could have a break. Holden is in remission now and no longer undergoing chemo, but ASK continues to care for them.
I’m so thankful that ASK was there to provide comfort and happiness in the darkest of times, and I’m happy to help raise money and awareness so they can continue to bring comfort to other families.
