What part of my participation fee at the Walk for Water event goes to Water4Life Mozambique?

100% of your fee and all the money raised in the “Walk for Water” goes as a donation to Water4Life Mozambique.  The use of facilities and all other costs are donated.

How much of my donation goes to projects to drill wells?

100% of all donations are used to drill wells.  These well provide clean, safe, drinking water in rural Mozambique Africa.  The board of directors of Water4Life Mozambique cover the other expenses.  For details on this go to https://water4lifemozambique.org/

How much does a well cost and how do you use my donation?

It costs $6,900 to drill a well in rural Mozambique.  Donations are used for expenses to drill the well and provide for all the equipment needed to maintain and operate the well.  This includes things like well casings, well heads, pumps, fittings for the pumps and pipes, concrete and more.

How many people does a well serve?

On average over 1,200 people are served by each well. 

Will I receive a receipt for my donation, and is it tax-deductible?

Yes! and Yes!  In addition to the receipt for your registration at the Walk for Water, you will receive a year-end statement that lists all donations made throughout the year to Water4Life Mozambique.  

Water4Life Mozambique is a Charitable Organization recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3) Tax ID 46-5373602. It is also licensed in the State of Florida (# CH49701,).

When I sign up, can I ask people to join me?

Yes!  Please do!  You can even create your own team and give it a cool name!  What a great way to show your love to the people of Mozambique by getting the word out about what you are doing!

Why do I have to set a fundraising goal?  What if I just want to walk and help out?

Your participation fee goes towards your goal.  You can set your goal as small or as large as you wish.  Actually, this can become part of the fun of this experience.  We’ve found that when someone sees you have set a specific goal, they are often more inclined to help you reach it.

Can my goal be changed?

Yes, easy to do.  From your home page go to “My Fundraising Tools”, choose “My Fundraising Dashboard”, then click on the box “Update my goal”.  

We hope you get surprised by the number of people who want to sponsor you and that you blow through your goal.  If that is the case, don’t hesitate to raise your goal to a higher level because people are more apt to help you reach a goal than they are to donate if you have already achieved it.

 

How do I ask people to sponsor me?  I am not comfortable asking people for money.  In fact, I hate doing that.

 

We understand!  Most people are uncomfortable “making the ask”.  We are so thankful that you have stepped up to help, so we want to make it super easy for you to share with family and friends what you are doing and who it helps.  

We’ve found that once people know you are doing this for a good cause, you might be surprised how many will want to come along side of you to help too!  So, to help you, you will have your own webpage that is super easy to share on social media, email or even text!  You will also be able to customize your story and upload photos.

How do I send a message?

It is super easy!  From your home page click on “My fundraising tools”, select “Share event” and then choose the way you want to go!  

Whether it is via email (individual or group) or Facebook or Twitter or even sending text messages you are just a few clicks from sharing with people you know.  And guess what!  In the prepopulated messages your friends are encouraged to share with their friends.  Who knows where that might lead!

Can I increase my donation?

Yes!  On your home page go to the box marked “Donate” and proceed from there.  If you are part of a team double check to make sure it is going toward your fundraising goal as well as the teams.

Can I get a refund if I am unable to participate?

No, unfortunately we can not return the donation.  But you can give your registration to another person to walk in your place.  You will need to notify us of this change at least 2 days before the event.

Can my family and friends who don’t have a registration walk with me?

No, but we are providing cheer stations along the route and encourage them to join you near the start/finish line.  We want lot’s of people there for your BIG FUN FINISH!

Can I use a stroller or walker?

Yes, absolutely!  And infants/young children do not need a donation.  However, we do ask that you provide their names and age.  You can do this at the time of check-in.

Can I bike or use a golf cart?

No, unfortunately not.

Do I have to carry water?

No, not at all.  This is not required and we encourage everyone to exercise caution when choosing to carry water.  It is heavy and slops around so please be safe and don’t exceed what you think you are capable of.  And if it becomes too much just set the bucket down to the side and continue your walk.  There is no shame.

What if I don’t want to walk but would like to sponsor a participant?

 

You can do this at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/walk4water/ and click on “Donate Now”  You can search for a participants name to dedicate to an individual or team to help them reach their fundraising goal.

Can I help volunteer at the event if I don’t want to walk?

Yes, absolutely! We have a variety of activities to help make this a fun event.   Just email Rob Wibbeler at rwibbeler2@gmail.com .
