I am again walking in the UC Brain Tumor Center's Walk Ahead for Brain Tumor Discoveries. I have been been involved with this event either as a volunteer or participant for quite a few years now, first in honor of and then in memory of Bill, who was a son and brother to two of my co-workers.

In 2020 when my dad passed away from the same type of brain cancer - Glioblastoma - the walk took on additional meaning.

I of course wish I had more time with my dad, but I really walk for Bill and his family. Having lost a niece to cancer at age 26, I know all too well that is way too young to lose someone.

I walk for a cure, specifically for Glioblastoma, which currently has no effective treatment. The 5-year survival rate is 6.9%.
