When and where is the event?

Date: Thursday, September 17, 2026
Location: City Square Plaza (2190 12th Avenue, Regina)

Registration & Check-In opens at 11:00 a.m., followed by a short program, the walk, lunch, and awards.

Who can participate?

Everyone is welcome! Individuals, families, friends, coworkers, students, and community groups are encouraged to participate.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, it is $30 to register for the event. Registration includes participation in the event, walker bib, red shoes to borrow or decorative ribbons for your shoes and lunch provided by Schmitty’s Smoked Meats. *Please note registration is not tax receptible.

Can I register at the event?

Yes! Head to the registration table when you arrive to get signed up. You can pay via cash or card at the event.

Do I have to wear red heels?

No! Wearing red heels is a fun tradition that symbolizes doing something challenging and having difficult conversations about gender-based violence, it is not required. 

Do you have red shoes to borrow?

Yes! We have all sizes and styles of red shoes available for participants to borrow. After checking in, please visit the shoe tent where volunteers can help you find the perfect pair. You can check your own shoes for the duration of the event.

What should I wear?

Please dress weather appropriate and be prepared for inclement weather.

What happens if it rains?

The event will proceed rain or shine unless severe weather creates unsafe conditions. If changes are necessary, participants will be notified by email and through YWCA Regina's social media channels.

How long is the walk?

The walk is approximately 15 minutes around Victoria Park and is designed to be accessible and suitable for most participants.

Is the route accessible?

Yes! The route is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Please remember to clean up after your pet and be mindful of other participants.

Is parking available?

There are several public paid parking lots and street parking options available in downtown Regina. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking.

Will food be provided?

Yes! Lunch will be provided by Schmitty’s Smoked Meats following the walk. Vegetarian and gluten free option will be available. Please speak directly to Schmitty’s regarding dietary concerns.

Will there be washrooms?

Yes. Public washrooms will be available near the event site.

Do I have to fundraise?

Fundraising is encouraged but not required. Every dollar raised helps provide safety, support, and hope for women and families in our community.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised support YWCA Regina's Isabel Johnson Domestic Violence Shelter and support women and families fleeing violence. Every donation provides hope and healing. 

How do I collect donations?

After registering, you'll receive access to your personal fundraising page where you can:

  • Share your fundraising link with family and friends.
  • Collect secure online donations.
  • Track your fundraising progress.
  • Thank your supporters.

Cash and cheque donations are also accepted. Visit the registration tent on event day for assistance.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Tax receipts will be issued for all donations of $20 or more. Registration fees are not tax receptible.

Can my workplace create a team?

Yes! Corporate and community teams are encouraged. Walking together is a great way to build team spirit while supporting an important cause.

How can my business get involved?

Businesses can participate by:

  • Registering a team.
  • Becoming an event sponsor.
  • Encouraging employees to fundraise.
  • Making a corporate donation.
  • Volunteering at the event.

I'd like to volunteer. How do I sign up?

We couldn't host Walk a Mile without our amazing volunteers! Volunteer opportunities are available before and during the event. Contact our events team at events@ywcaregina.com for more information.
