The mission of NuPath is to provide people with disabilities the support needed to live, work, learn, grow, and participate to their fullest potential in their community.

I started my own journey at NuPath in 2012, serving as their AmeriCorps member after graduating college. For those of you unfamiliar with AmeriCorps, it’s a lot like the Peace Corps only the federal government sends young college grads to US nonprofit organizations rather than overseas. Before my first day at NuPath, I figured this ten month gig would give me practical work experience and a chance to “give back” before going to grad school to study corporate law or finance. I came to NuPath knowing next to nothing about people with cognitive disabilities and autism and the tremendous courage that they, their families, and the people who support them show every day to create a world that values them for exactly who they are.

Much to my own surprise, after my AmeriCorps term ended, I asked for a job and it's been the best decision I've ever made. Over the past two and a half years, I have grown to love this organization, the people we support, and the work we do so much that I feel inspired to fundraise for our annual Walk the Walk! 100% of the funds raised in this walk will directly benefit the people we serve including funding our new Navigating Life program which provides wrap-around community-based supports for young adults living with autism.
