As lupus awareness month approaches, my team is preparing to launch our donation page. We proudly call ourselves “The Flyest Warriors.” Last year, I had the privilege of forming a friendship with one of my students’ parents, who was also diagnosed with lupus. I now have the honor of sharing a team with her. As most of you are aware, I was fully diagnosed with lupus SLE (a form of lupus that attacks vital organs, tissues, and my immune system) at the age of 11. In 2021, I underwent a major surgery caused by lupus, which left me with a significant scar on my stomach. I have spent the majority of my life battling a disease that still lacks a cure, relying solely on medication for management of pain. This year holds a special significance as I will be celebrating 10 years since my best friend and mentor lost her battle with lupus. I am writing to invite you to either join my team, “The Flyest Warriors,” and walk with us or consider donating to support our team.Please consider debating whether to walk or donate to fight for a cure.
