We’re walking to support the FamilieSCN2A Foundation—raising funds for research, support, and advocacy for families like ours facing SCN2A-related disorders. Calvin was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, SCN2A, two years ago, just after his first birthday. For Calvin, this means: developmental delays, low muscle tone, autism, CVI (cortical visual impairment) and intractable epilepsy.

Join us Saturday October 3rd at Elm Creek Park at 10 AM: Park at the Bluebird Picnic Area and we'll take a 1.5 mile walk through the park, and then end with some light refreshments, sponsored by Picnics with a Pup. Last year, we had almost 50 attendants at our Warrior Walk, and easily surpassed our $2,024 goal. We need you again. Help us raise $3,000 in honor of Calvin, who is now 3 years old.

Despite SCN2A and it's many hardships, Calvin has continued to make great strides. He has started to communicate with an AAC device and become more mobile, which has allowed him to showcase his toddler personality. He's had to be resilient for a lot of ups and downs this year, including starting the medical Ketogenic diet, which has been a complete lifestyle change. We're hopeful that despite the intensity of the diet, we will see benefits in Calvin's seizure control and quality of life.

But this is why we need YOU.

While we are fortunate that Calvin has a strong medical team, there are still no approved treatments specifically for SCN2A. Calvin and thousands of other Warriors are still waiting for therapies that can improve not only seizures, but communication, movement, cognition, independence, and quality of life.
