I'm taking part in the Warrior Challenge for my son, Chase. Chase started having seizures on day three of life. He spent just under two weeks in the NICU until he was stabilized and discharged with anti-seizure medications and many follow up doctor appointments. We later learned the seizures were caused by a de-novo genetic mutation associated with the SCN2A gene. This mutation not only causes seizures but also causes other developmental disorders. Chase has spent his life in and out of the hospital as the effectiveness of the anti-seizure medicine changes. The FamilieSCN2A Foundation's is the largest community fundraising and awareness event to help raise critical funds for SCN2A research, advocacy, and family support. SCN2A-related disorders are rare, devastating, and deeply underfunded. Families fight every single day and the Warrior Challenge is how we rally around them.
