Support Veterans Through Jiu-Jitsu This Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, Sugoi Submissions is hosting a We Defy Foundation Open Mat in Corpus Christi to support veterans and military-connected individuals through Jiu-Jitsu.

As a Marine Corps veteran, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, and owner of Sugoi Submissions, this mission means a lot to me personally.

Jiu-Jitsu gives people more than techniques. It gives structure, discipline, challenge, accountability, and a room full of people who expect you to keep showing up. For many veterans, that kind of environment can make a real difference.

Sugoi Submissions is proud to be a We Defy Foundation approved training facility here in Corpus Christi, Texas, and our goal is simple:

Use our mats to support those who served.

The average cost to fund one We Defy veteran scholarship is $2,500. That helps cover training, uniform costs, and access to a consistent Jiu-Jitsu community.

This open mat is about more than training. It is about remembrance, service, and showing up for the veteran community in a real way.
