I've decided to sign up for the 2027 Dopey Challenge at Disney World's Marathon Weekend, which means I will be running 48.6 miles over four days! I'm honestly not just doing it for the challenge, but for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

Running with Dougie's Team for Autism means a lot to me: Autism isn’t just something I’ve learned about—it’s personal. I have two cousins on the spectrum, and I’ve seen both the challenges they face and the incredible strengths they bring to the world.

I also have the opportunity to work at a water park that is a Certified Autism Center through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). This experience shows me how powerful inclusive environments can be—when staff are trained, sensory needs are understood, and families feel welcomed and supported, it makes all the difference.

That’s why supporting an organization like the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism matters so much. They provide families with resources, financial assistance, and programs that truly make a real impact in everyday life. Autism affects 1 in 36 children, and behind every number is a family navigating therapies, education, and support systems. No one should have to do that alone.

Training for this challenge, I know, is going to be extremely tough, but having this purpose behind me will make it worth it!
