That I would never run a marathon? You are correct. I have said that many a time. As a long-time sufferer of overuse injuries, a marathon always seemed like it would be tempting the fates too much and would definitely result in an unnecessary injury. Plus, I felt like since I've run 18 miles before, I basically already had run a marathon, and how much harder could it be?
Well, we are about to find out. At 36, I'm finally putting my money where my mouth is and crossing this off my bucket list (or potentially finding out that marathons are my new favorite thing, although that seems very unlikely.) My inspirational older sister convinced me to sign up for this race and run it for charity, so if this turns out to be a miserable training endeavor, at least it is for a good cause. Donate to her page here if you want to support both Angelo sisters (keep scrolling for the button to donate to me).

Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started the Doug Flutie, Jr. Flutie Foundation for Autism in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey. Over its 26-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $14 million to schools and organizations who provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job supports and more for people affected by autism. The Flutie Foundation also provides education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, and direct family support through its special programs. The Flutie Foundation’s newest initiative, Flutie Spectrum Enterprises, will help create businesses to employ adults with autism.
