Meet Catherine and Eddie!

They served as cottage parents over 35 years ago and still support Queen Louise Home for Children.

Like most decent people, we care about all children. And it was our great privilege as young adults to be entrusted with a group of beautiful children.

The team at Queen Louise Home for Children works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to make life better for the children in our care.

Uklyn Hendricks, our Director, Dorna McCoy, Social Work Supervisor, and Bevey Hill, a cottage parent, share what it's like to care for children at Queen Louise Home.

I serve at Queen Louise Home because I love children, and I also want to give back to my community. My work is so rewarding, and this past week, in particular, was terrific for my team and me.

I am excited to tell you about one of our children, who we will call Jason. In addition to the challenges that brought him to Queen Louise Home, Jason is severely autistic and is non-verbal. He is a teenager of little words but big gestures and facial expressions.

On June 1st, 24 years ago, we began training together at Sister Emma Cottage as part of its first group of caretakers.

The program is a special part of Queen Louise Home for Children, where we care for children and young adults with severe disabilities.

We still remember sitting on the floor of the then newly renovated Cottage. The space was originally a home for the administrator and her family to live on campus. LSSVI then expanded it to accommodate eight children with disabilities and started Sister Emma Cottage.

Hi Friend,

I hope you are already as excited as we are about the Week of Giving. I wanted to make sure you are on the same page with us.

I recently had to do some medical checkups, and I know you know how it feels. Answering the same questions repeatedly, filling out a million forms, and running through countless tests....
