Hello Friends and Family,
The Woods Project's annual fundraiser, Walk for the Woods Project, is coming up next month. Even though I can't support the organization as a volunteer this summer (Travis and I will be on a different type of adventure with our Baby Girl), I still want to be sure to financially support this organization that has meant so much to me throughout my adult life and also impacted the lives of so many Houston youth.
Last summer I had the honor of volunteering on two amazing wilderness trips through The Woods Project. I led one 14 day sea kayaking trip in the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior, and one 14 day backpacking trip through Desolation Wilderness. Through hiking over snowfileds, cooking meals together, supporting teammates who were sick or injured, persevering through rain and thunderstorms, witnessing stars in the sky for the first time, joyfully plunging into 40 degree lakes, playing games in camp, and cheering each other on, I saw my students develop communication skills, friendships, teamwork, a sense of appreciation and stewardship for the environment, and a huge amount of strength, determination and grit. As always with The Woods Project, I witnessed a magical transformation within my students and I know that they are well on their way to attaining success in their education and in their lives.
Thank you for visiting my page and please reach out to me if you have any questions about the amazing work The Woods Project accomplishes each year. Love, Kelsey.
