2026 Lighthouse of Pinellas White Cane Walk Ambassador

At 19 years old, Enoch Brown has already overcome tremendous challenges. Born blind due to optic nerve hypoplasia, Enoch spent much of his childhood in foster care before finding stability with his aunt. Through it all, he refused to let blindness or his circumstances define his future.

A recent graduate of Gibbs High School, where he participated in jazz band and wrestling, Enoch is now preparing to attend St. Petersburg College to study cybersecurity. His goal is to work for a company like Microsoft, proving that blindness is never a barrier to success.

"People think there are things blind people can't do," Enoch says. "I like proving them wrong."

Over the past two years, Lighthouse of Pinellas has helped Enoch build the confidence and skills to live independently. Through Orientation & Mobility training, he learned to safely travel throughout his community, navigate stores, cross busy intersections, and advocate for himself. He also developed skills in cooking, assistive technology, Braille, budgeting, and independent living.

"Lighthouse didn't baby me," Enoch shares. "They told me, 'You can do this.' They held me to a higher standard."

Looking ahead, Enoch hopes to mentor other blind and visually impaired students, helping them learn the skills and technology needed to pursue college and meaningful careers.

When asked what Lighthouse has meant to him, his answer is simple: "It's a very good space. There are a lot of good people here to help you with everything you need."

As the 2026 White Cane Walk Ambassador, Enoch represents what is possible when individuals who are blind or visually impaired have access to the right training, support, and opportunities. Every dollar raised through the White Cane Walk helps empower people like Enoch to live independently and pursue their dreams.
