Why the pink wig?!…flashback to 6 years ago. I found the lump on a business trip and received the biopsy results sitting on an airplane, flying home from my daughter’s wedding. Shock, anger, fear, and denial. How could I – a mother, a wife and a company President – have time/energy/desire to deal with breast cancer?! Not possible! Time stopped – but not for long – there were appointments to be made, a surgery to schedule – family to tell, and a lot of decisions I did not want to make.  Flash forward...now retired, a tip from my amazing dad, led me to Carolina Breast Friends and The Pink House. Carolina Breast Friends provides care for all who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I now volunteer at CBF and enjoy serving as a one-on-one mentor, where I am paired with others who are facing these difficult times. As a survivor/mentor who is now thriving, I share hope, support and encouragement to those who need it most, including those who elect more radical options such as flat closure mastectomy.  Carolina Breast Friends offers extensive programming and support, all FREE to the recipients, but we need funding to continue.   Chances are, you or someone you know have been touched by this horrible disease. Until there is a cure, I am asking you to donate. Every amount is IMPACTFUL. 100% of donations to my campaign go straight to programming, prosthetics, wigs, etc..as this fundraiser’s costs are already covered. To show how much I believe in this good work and to keep it on your mind, too, I’ll be wearing this crazy pink wig all over town and all month!
