Volunteering and working with the homeless population has been a huge part of my journey and growth as a social worker. Seeing how the community works first hand and hearing some incredible stories has inspired me to join the 2024 Winter Walk. One of the incredible stories I have heard is about a man named Sammy. Sammy was homeless for several years and took on all the hardships that came with living on the streets. Despite his circumstances, Sammy would have an incredible smile on his face every single day. So the name of our team just made perfect sense. Through the support of local organizations and his own strength Sammy has created his own amazing success story and is no longer in the same situation. Any money raised is going to organizations that support people like Sammy. If you are able to donate that would be greatly appreciated, even the smallest amount means the world. We are walking in honor of Sammy, hoping with everyone’s help we can help more people like Sammy.
