Emily's Walking to Support Mental Health Awareness!

Hello Friends and Family!

I wanted to invite you to join me on Saturday, October 8 for The Walk for Mental Health Awareness-Houston. This community event aims to create an environment for positive public dialogue on mental health. It gives Houstonians the opportunity to learn about mental health issues, how mental health affects ALL of us, and actions that we can take to promote positive mental health for ourselves, our families, and our communities. Additionally, the Walk seeks to raise awareness and funding for Greater Houston area non-profit agencies and programs that provide mental health services.

I am walking that morning with Team Family Houston. Family Houston is a non-profit organization in the Greater Houston area that has been dedicated to strengthening families and communities since 1904. Family Houston programs include counseling, case management, financial stability, employment services, veteran services, parenting and life skills classes, substance abuse prevention, and school-based services. Most of these services are provided free of charge or at minimal cost to individuals and families. I am privileged to serve as a counselor at Family Houston in its innovative Young Adults on the Move Program, which among other things, offers free counseling to transition-aged young adults (15-24 years old) and their families.

I would be delighted for you to join me as we fight stigma and make strides towards positive mental health, one step at a time!

Warmly,

Emily
