We are once again walking for our sweet Hadley, who was born with a congenital heart defect called a ventricular septal defect, or VSD. From the very beginning, her heart journey has been a reminder of just how important continued research, medical advancements, and specialized care are for children born with congenital heart defects.

As parents, there is nothing that prepares you for hearing that something is wrong with your baby’s heart. But there is also incredible hope in knowing that research has transformed what is possible for children like Hadley. Because of advances in diagnosis, treatment, and care, more Heart Warriors are growing, thriving, and celebrating birthdays than ever before.

That is why participating in the Congenital Heart Walk means so much to our family. We are walking for Hadley, for every family who has heard the words “congenital heart defect,” and for the future discoveries that will give children with CHDs even more hope.

The Children’s Heart Foundation has spent 30 years funding research dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects. By supporting our fundraising efforts, you are helping fund the research that can improve survival, reduce complications, and change the futures of children born with heart conditions.
