I want to express my heartfelt thanks for taking a moment to visit my fundraising page.

This year, I'm walking with extra purpose as The Children's Heart Foundation celebrates 30 incredible years of funding research that saves lives and changes futures.

This walk comes from the heart for my son, Wade, was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. At 20 weeks in utero, Wade was diagnosed with HLHS and a cleft lip and palate. Due to the presence of sinusoids in his heart, we were given little hope that he would qualify for any life-saving heart surgeries. Wade was born at Mott, where he immediately began proving the odds wrong. His fourth open heart surgery brought much needed stability to his heart, allowing him to finally begin the process of repairing his cleft lip and palate.  Before turning two years old, Wade had undergone seven major surgeries. Today, if you met him, you’d never know the battles he’s faced. His journey isn’t over — there will be more heart and cleft surgeries in his future — but for now, he’s living life fully thanks to every nurse and doctor and research.

One of my biggest prayers is that treatments and medical interventions continue to advance so that, one day in Wade’s lifetime, we can look at him and say, “There is a cure.”
