I am grateful that I get to fundraise for support to the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. This year, our district’s goal is $130,000, and I’m asking my friends, family, and community to help us reach it because the work we’re doing for kids truly matters.

My Y Story: A Story of Belonging

As a young adult, I found something at the YMCA that shaped who I am today: belonging.

I was fortunate to be nurtured by a leader who saw me, celebrated me, and encouraged me to show up as my full, authentic self. Through college, the Y supported me with meaningful employment. After graduation, the Y offered me my first full‑time role and every step since has been filled with trust, growth, and leadership opportunities. I have never had to question whether I belonged at the Y. I always have.

And that sense of belonging changed my life.

Why I Fundraise: Creating Belonging for Every Child

Today, in my role as District Executive Director, I have the privilege of supporting youth development across:

• 55+ After School sites
• 13+ Day Camps
• YMCA Camp Carter Overnight Camp
• …and many more youth‑serving programs

Every day, I see the power of what belonging does for young people. When kids feel celebrated and accepted from the earliest ages, they develop confidence, resilience, bravery, and the belief that they can thrive.

My goal is simple:
To help every child who walks into our programs experience the same belonging that shaped my life.
