Out of 2,000 shelter beds in Denver only 40-50 temporary beds are for specifically for women. It was believed that there weren't as many women on the streets as there are men. The reality is that women facing homelessness on the streets are usually also hiding in the shadows. They often avoid food lines and shelters for fear of being followed and harmed.

Why am I fundraising?

As a woman, I can’t imagine a much scarier place than being alone, cold, hungry, and targeted on the streets. Catholic Charities wants to give women in this position a safe place to sleep - a place where they can rest, get the help they need to get back on their feet and possibly start laughing again.

Why donate?

Your donation will specifically go towards the creation of this women-only shelter that will impact the lives of many currently suffering. 

This shelter will have 100 "wet" overnight emergency beds. This is for women that may or may not be sober/clean. The women staying here will be fed breakfast and dinner at the main Samaritan House. They will be transported to and from the overnight shelter by bus.

In addition to the emergency shelter, this facility will also have a 50 bed "next step" area designed to move women from homelessness to independent living. This will be a short term 30 day stay to transition women from the streets to a more structured environment.

$50,000 is needed to launch this critical ministry to combat the growing population of homeless women. Any donation amount will make a difference.
