Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting this page. As many of you know, there is a homeless epidemic in Colorado. As some of you may not know, this crises is tragically affecting the female community. Here is an alarming statistic: currently, there are only 40-50 overnight beds serving Denver's homeless female population! I was shocked when I heard this news - especially when compared to the 2,000 (+) overnight beds serving the homeless male population. The good news is, help is on the way.
Denver Catholic Charities, Inc. has announced the opening of the Samaritan House Smith Rd.. This facility is located at: 6240 Smith Rd. in Denver, Colorado. This facility is a 29,000 square foot building reconfigured to provide 100 overnight beds to homeless females. There will be an additional 50 beds provided to women who are transitioning to permanent housing. The most exciting feature of the facility is that it will be offering holistic services to its female clients. These services will include: a hot breakfast and dinner, hot showers, employment and educational resources, clothing resources, substance abuse and spiritual counseling services. There will also be a beautiful chapel onsite. The new facility is located adjacent to Denver's new Light Rail "A" Line, thus providing convenient transportation.
I hope you can join me in contributing to this worthy effort. Many of these homeless women have never known the love of others. As someone recently said to me, " they have never experienced what it is like to have a safe and secure home, they have never been treated like ladies, many have been abused and taken advantage of by predators." Please open your heart to these women. You can help by clicking on the Donate Now button on the left.
Amen, as you do to the least of mine, you do to me. Matthew 25:40.
Thank you & God Bless
Stan Wood
