With your donation, MET students can have an incredibly unique opportunity to participate in various equestrian-focused online college courses offered through Clarkson University and an incredible quality equestrian training experience with Emily Elek of Stonewall Farms. This program is open to all interested MET students in grades 8-12.
Students will earn valuable insights into equestrian career opportunities, network and make connections with industry professionals, and boost their resumes and college applications. Upon completion of the program, students will also receive college credits to take into their chosen university or college careers, along with "The Plaid Horse" Certification of Equestrian Studies.
Led by Professor Piper Klemm, Ph.D., these courses will cover such topics as:
- Business and Bias in the Equestrian Industry
- English Riding: History, Culture, and Industry Evolution
- Grit, Toughness, and Contemporary Equestrian Coaching
Prof. Klemm received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkley in 2012 and became publisher of "The Plaid Horse" in 2014.
In addition to participation in one of these incredible and informative online courses, students accepted to the program will have the opportunity to ride in a 5 day training program at Stonewall Farm in Wisconsin with Emily Elek. Emily is the largest pony dealer in North America out of Stonewall Farm in Ixonia, Wisconsin where Emily breeds, trains, leases, and sells top hunter ponies, including USEF National Champions and Overall Grand Champions at Pony Finals, as well as top level horses. She built her business on a platform of education and is known for making the perfect match, as well as transparency, honesty, and good business practices.
All expenses for the Clarkson University Course as well as food and travel to and from the riding experience at Stonewall Farm will be completely covered by your generosity.
Scholarship programs like these are core to MET's mission, and we couldn't be more thrilled to partner with our friends at The Plaid Horse to create this opportunity for our students.
