Mission Statement
The Zack Heger Foundation was founded for and now remains in memory of Zack Heger who struggled and lost his long and brave battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy May 3, 2022 at age 29.
While the ZHF mission was initially founded to fund a cure for DMD and improve the lives of those with MD, we have shifted our purpose to focus on methods of improving accessibility and inclusivity to all people.

Zack’s story, and others with DMD, is why we run. DMD feels especially tragic because of how intensely it impacts our loved ones but Zack was a shining example of how life can be lead to the fullest. Especially when you're surrounded with love.
We run for the special place in our hearts that Zack will always hold, and for Margie, Jack, and the rest of his amazing family who have taken us in as their own since moving to Boston.
