We're proud to be part of the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin's 19th Annual Awareness Walk and 5K Run, Roll and Stroll because it means so much to us and to our family. Paul is again the Race Director for this year's 5K Run, Roll and Stroll. Consider joining us at the 5K Run and at the walk this year. It is always a great time!!!
People with Down syndrome are more LIKE the rest of us than they are different. They have feelings, talents and dreams just like everyone. They deserve to be accepted and appreciated for who they are and what they contribute to our lives and our communities.
We have so many dreams for Hannah ~ to be happy, to be healthy, to be accepted AND celebrated for who she is, to be included, to have friends, to have a boyfriend, to live and work in the community, to be well-rounded and all that Hannah will be able to realize the dreams she holds for herself!
DSAW has so many resources and programming to help us to realize those dreams. From Peer Sensitivity Trainings that teaches typical peers how to be good friends to those with Down syndrome; grants that help families secure products or services for their child with Down syndrome; DSAW D.A.D.S. which provides fathers with a wealth of information, and comradore between them to help them meet the challenges their families face each day; new summer programming helped individuals with Down syndrome learn to cook and learn essential life skills to keep safe and solve conflicts. There are many more ways DSAW helps families like ours!
