Why Attend This Camp?

Our camp gives athletes the chance to learn in a competitive environment while being coached by the Thiel College Men's Volleyball team and staff. Every camper will learn key skills of the game, be challenged to improve, and be encouraged to grow as a player and a teammate.

Meet the Camp Director: Coach Henry Gorton

Henry Gorton was named the fourth head coach in Thiel Men's Volleyball history in June 2025. He joined Thiel after three seasons as an assistant coach at St. John Fisher College, a perennial NCAA Division III power, where the Cardinals compiled a 73-23 record, earned 17 wins over nationally ranked opponents, and reached the 2023 NCAA Tournament with a 24-8 record. In 2024, Gorton was part of the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year.

Before college coaching, Gorton spent five years as Assistant Varsity Coach at Spencerport High School, where the Rangers won five consecutive sectional titles and made the podium at the New York State Championships — finishing second in 2021 and 2022, and third in 2023.

A lifelong player with more than 13 years of competitive experience, Gorton has competed in the Volleyball League of America (VLA) since 2022 and helped the Niagara Frontiersmen reach the 2023 VLA Finals Cup. He is a graduate of SUNY Brockport, holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with coursework focused on exercise science and athletic performance.
