10th Consecutive Year!!!

So proud to have the opportunity to support Boys to Men.

11 years ago I remember Boys to Men co-founder Joe Sigurdson calling me on the phone with the new fundraising idea of catching 100 waves in one day, like a walk-a-thon, but surfing. Took me about half a second to decide that I was in. Ten consecutive years later, I'm still in.

African Proverb: "If you don't initiate the boys into the tribe, they will burn the village down."

In 1978, I was in the 4th grade and one of those boys burrning the village. A loving single mom was not enough to teach me how to be a good man. Fortune smiled on our tribe when Richard Charles Wells came into our lives, guiding us to become the men we are today.

Now I'm the father doing my best to pass the lessons learned on to my children. The lesson of giving back is at the top of the list.

Please join me in supporting Boys to Men in their mission to mentor and guide these at risk boys. If you are in town on the 21st, come spent some time in South Mission at the event. Love to see you there.

Peace -

Jared

Boys to Men Mentoring (BTM) is a group mentoring program working to connect hundreds of teenage boys to positive male role models they can depend on. More About Boys to Men

NO BACKGROUND JPEG.jpg

When Boys to Men Mentoring began in 1996, the devastation of fatherlessness on our community fueled their desire to support fatherless teenage boys as they transitioned into adulthood. A boy without a dad in his life is disproportionately more likely to drop out of high school, end up in prison, and commit suicide. Since then, BTM has grown to provide weekly mentorship to teenage boys from all walks of life looking for positive men empower them to be the best they can be.

Today, BTM facilitates weekly group mentoring at over 36 middle and high schools across San Diego County for over 800 teenage boys. To learn more, please visit www.boystomen.org.
