I became a brother of Phi Mu Alpha in the Fall of 2000. During my time as a collegiate brother, I made some of the best friends of my life, learned from some incredible mentors, and had the opportunity to both hear and perform some amazingly beautiful and moving music. As an alumnus for the past twenty years, I've had the opportunity to become a leader at different levels of the fraternity, became the mentor like I had for the brothers who came after me, and continued appreciating and performing music. I know I'm not alone in having meaningful experiences during my time as a collegiate brother. I know there are plenty of alumni who wished they could have done more during their time in the chapter and probably wish they still could make a difference. This is that opportunity. At no time since I've been a brother has there been a better chance to make a meaningful contribution. There have been times before in our history when costs have outpaced dues, and the solution has always been to pass the costs on to the collegiate brothers by raising dues. Well that won't work this time. We need a new, better, and more steady source of income to bolster what our collegiate brothers bring in through their dues, taxes, and fees and that source is alumni. We have the chance to give back in a big way that ensures that our current and future collegiate brothers have all of their initiation materials, have access to all the programs and services that we had, and most importantly, have a chance to make the same memories and have the same exalted experiences we did. Give a little, give a lot, give once, or make it reoccurring, just as long as you give something. Help the fraternity to move onward and upward towards a bigger brighter future.
