Serena's Peace for Preeclampsia

Thank you for visiting my 2022 Promise Walk for Preeclampsia fundraising page. This is for Serena Joy Crane, our beautiful angel who passed away May 5, 2022. I am so grateful for your donations and for your help in spreading the word about this awful disease. My goal is to help our community raise funds and awareness to save the lives of moms and babies! Please make a donation to support our efforts to fund education and research into this life-threatening disorder of pregnancy. Thank you again so much!

Preeclampsia Took Her From Us

I am the mother of the beautiful angel, Serena Joy Crane. She was only 23 weeks old and 6 days when she was born due to my organs failing and preeclampsia taking over my entire body. She lived from May 1, 2022 to May 5, 2022. Now she lives on with God.

My pregnancy started off in celebration that I was pregnant with baby girl number 2. (1st pregnancy I didn't develop preeclampsia). We were all so excited but around the 2nd month, I started to feel symptoms I wasn't used to. I started to have breathing trouble and my hands/feet began to start swell up. Doctors did not think anything of it yet. I was informed it was all normal pregnancy symptoms. Little did we know preeclampsia was developing and before we knew it, it was too late.

Our journey was painful. I began swelling in other places such as; ankles, arms, shoulders, neck and face. You could see I struggled with walking and breathing. I developed carpal tunnel syndrome and snored through the night. My blood pressure started to creep up higher and higher. Max blood pressure we saw was 175. Next headaches came and protein in my urine was found. Soon enough I was admitted to the hospital for the remaining 3 months of my pregnancy. I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia.

Sadly, 3 months turned into 5 days. I was admitted April 25th 2022 and developed HELLP Syndrome on April 30th. The evening of April 30th my organs began to fail and I was in agnony. It was time to deliver Serena. May 1st Serena was born and was 1lb 3oz.

She was so small and her lungs were not fully developed. I did get a shot to help them but it was not enough. The growth restriction is part of preeclampsia. My placenta being small was a part of preeclampsia. My entire sickness was all preeclampsia and no one knew it until ti was too late.

We love our beautiful angel and cannot wait to see her again. This fundraiser is in honor of Serena Joy. She fought so hard and we are so proud of her. Thank you for donating and thank you for sharing!
