Hi friends!
I'm fundraising for Capital Area Humane Society's 2023 Walk for the Animals. As many of you know, I am a regular volunteer here in the behavior department and the clinic.
This organization recently underwent major renovations in the dog housing area. Not only does it look amazing, but it serves particular functions to benefit the dogs and keep stress levels down... which shows the level of forethought in ensuring the animals in their care receive the best.
With my involvement in the behavior department, I have seen what this organization does for animals. I'm so impressed by how these animals are being supported behaviorally, and even animals outside the shelter with the behavior hotline resource that I help with. I'm continuously grateful for the emphasis on individual animal wellbeing in this shelter, with the staffing of positive reinforcement, force-free behavior personnel, implementation of a training program for both dogs and cats, administration of appropriate behavioral medications for stress and anxiety when needed, offering of relaxing sounds (white noise, nature sounds, classical music), and implementation of calming pheromones throughout the shelter. And they are always looking to improve.
Being in the clinic, I have seen first-hand the level of professionalism and care that the staff have for the animals. Each animal is given a high standard of care.
I'm very excited for the cruelty center to be opened as well. For my personal development in my animal behavior studies, I want to be able to help rehabilitate abused dogs with behavioral issues such as anxiety and aggression. I look forward to developing that aspect of my work with this amazing shelter.
Highlighting the staff again, these people deserve gold medals. Seriously. Most people could not do what they do.
The fact of the matter is that this organization wouldn't be able to help animals and the community in this advanced way without donations. It is already a leader in the community and it has no plans to stop that momentum.
Please consider donating to my fundraising goal of $1,000. I KNOW I can get there with your help!
Thank you for your support!
Liz
