As a health care provider in the early 80s, working with HIV positive patients during the peak of the AIDS epidemic, I witnessed, first hand, the suffering —physical, psychological, and spiritual —that my patients and their loved ones experienced. So much we did not know and so much we feared because of lack of knowledge. We have made tremendous gains since then but still have a long way to go. I walk because I stand united with the LGBTIQA+ community, with love and respect for all ways of being.
