Why We Walk

After 2+ years of infertility struggles and numerous miscarriages, my wife, Courtney, was finally having a normal pregnancy in the spring of 2023. We were elated! Unexpectedly, Courtney got severe preeclampsia at just over 22 weeks. She spent 10 grueling, hard-fought days, bedridden at ThedaCare in Neenah and Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Roe Elizabeth Semotink was born via an emergency C-section on 6/13/23 at 1 lb 1 oz. She was considered a "micro-preemie" at 23 weeks and 6 days. She fought so hard for 4 days! We were able to feed her, read to her about the birds, and change her diaper (definitely the world's smallest!). We will forever be grateful for the time we had with her. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will always be.

We are passionate about the Preeclampsia Foundation and want to raise awareness of this terrible, life-threatening disorder. We also want to raise funds to help with continued research so hopefully other families will not have to go through this ordeal in the future.
