Why I Walk

I'm lucky to have made it through both my pregnancies safely, but too many women don't live long enough to hold their babies because of preeclampsia. Countless more have terrifying experiences that will forever taint their memories of the birth of their children.

  • Preeclampsia accounts for approximately 15% of all premature births in the US.

  • African Americans are 3x more likely to die from preeclampsia.

  • 60% of maternal deaths due to preeclampsia are preventable.

I'm walking because education is key, research is vital, and a cure is possible.
