Alexis developed life-threatening preeclampsia at 25 weeks pregnant, requiring an emergency delivery of her son, Lincoln. Lincoln’s light shined bright for 29 days before unfortunately passing away due to complications from being so premature.
Andrea developed severe preeclampsia after delivery of both of her children in 2021 and 2024, resulting in readmission to the hospital for several days less than 24 hours after discharge following the birth of her children in both instances.
Why do we walk?
Meet this amazing mom, Kristi
I walk for the women who haven’t had the chance to experience a healthy pregnancy and for the lives lost due to complications from preeclampsia. Every mother deserves to navigate her pregnancy without fear and anxiety, worrying for her own life and that of her child. By sharing our stories and the stories of our loved ones, we can create a powerful movement that raises awareness. Together, we can make a difference, ensuring that every mother can embrace her journey with hope and confidence

In 2019, during my first pregnancy, I developed gestational hypertension at 36 weeks. My doctor made it seem like it was something I didn’t have to worry about, but thankfully my sister, a nurse, urged me to monitor my blood pressure at home. At 39 weeks, I didn’t feel well and my BP was 141/101. I sent a photo to my sister, who told me to go to the hospital immediately. I was induced, put on magnesium, and had an emergency c-section. It was traumatic, but seeing my baby girl made it worth it. In 2021, I had another baby girl via scheduled c-section at 38 weeks. I thought I was in the clear—until I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia five days later. I had to go to the ER without my newborn. It broke me. In January 2025, I had my third baby. I switched OBs, managed gestational hypertension with medication, and delivered my baby boy at 37 weeks via c-section. This time, I felt heard and supported. I’m grateful for my healthy babies, but I had to learn to advocate for myself. My first OB never explained the risks. If not for my sister, I might not have made it. That’s why I walk to raise awareness for preeclampsia education. It can sneak up on anyone, and every woman deserves to know the signs.

I’m walking to raise awareness for preeclampsia in honor of my amazing friend and in memory of her sweet baby boy, Lincoln, who was taken from us far too soon. Through this journey, I’ve learned just how serious and far-reaching preeclampsia can be. It’s something that has touched my own extended family as well, and it means a lot to me to help bring more attention to this condition that affects so many families—often without warning. Every step I take is for Lincoln, and for all the little ones we carry forever in our hearts. If you’re able, please consider supporting—whether that’s through a donation, sharing this cause, or simply learning more. Awareness is powerful.

In 2023, I developed gestational hypertension around 20 weeks pregnant. Even though it was something that was monitored closely by myself and my team of doctors, it was a huge source of stress and anxiety during my pregnancy. At 39 weeks I was induced, which eventually led to a c-section due to failure to progress. I remained in the hospital for almost a week for blood pressure monitoring well aware that preeclampsia is still a risk even after delivery. Though traumatic, I know I am lucky and am beyond grateful every single day for the health of myself and my daughter. Empowered women create change and I walk because together we can raise awareness and make a difference.

In 2023, during my first pregnancy, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and was induced at 37 weeks. I was experiencing high blood pressure long before my diagnosis and was unaware of what that could mean for my health or my baby’s health. After understanding the severity of the situation I wished I had been educated earlier. In the end, I was lucky enough to have a safe delivery and baby. The experience, however, made me fearful of becoming pregnant again and having complications that would be more devastating. Today, I am so grateful to be a mom to two healthy children. I walk to honor those we’ve lost, to support those still fighting, and to help make a safer future for every mom and baby. Together, we can raise awareness and hope.

I walk so that a time meant to be the happiest in someone’s life is not overshadowed by trauma and grief.
Meet one of our walk chair's mom, Toni
I am walking for my daughter, son-in-law, and my grandson Lincoln. I gained strength from my daughter, a true survivor, who has become a remarkable advocate for raising awareness about preeclampsia. Witnessing her endure such a traumatic experience, where I saw her fight for her life, was heart-wrenching. The pain of losing my grandson has left a void in my heart that will never heal, and it drives me to ensure that no other family has to endure this suffering. Together, we need to raise awareness so that no one else experiences the heartbreak of losing a child. I will walk to help fight preeclampsia until we find a cure, honoring my daughter's bravery and commitment to educating our community about this critical issue.
