Thank you for visiting my Walk for the Animals fundraising page!

I was a sophomore in high school when my family took a trip to the Humane Society of Broward County "just to say hi to the animals" in 2008. Little did we know that a few hours later, we would be returning with our dog Lola! She was our family's first long-term family pet and we adored her. After 13 wonderful years with our beloved pup, she passed away in 2021.

In October of 2022, I returned to the Humane Society to adopt my first pet on my own, Pisa. She was the sweetest, loving, precious animal I have ever met. Shortly after her adoption, her health rapidly began to decline. After many vet visits and testing, the doctors were stumped. Sadly, 2 weeks after her adoption, she passed away from complications that I discovered were from a rare, incurable disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

Shortly after Pisa passed away, I discovered an amazing cat rescue center called Kit Crew Rescue. Robert and Maxx, who run the rescue center, have helped take care of hundreds of local stray cats by providing them with food and water, doing TNRs (trap, neuter, and release) to help reduce the growing stray population, and taking in stray kittens to give them a chance at at adoption and a better life. Wednesday was one of those kittens, and after a short period of fostering, I officially adopted her right around Christmas of 2022.

For over 34 years, the Walk for the Animals has served as the Humane Society of Broward County's largest annual fundraiser. By donating to the Walk, you are helping thousands of animals, just like Lola or Pisa, that come through their doors each year. Every dollar supports them as they provide veterinary care, food, shelter and much much more to every animal they see.
