Welcome to Team Golomboski: Walking for Our Dad, Fighting for a Cure

Welcome to the official team page for the 2026 APDA RI Optimism Walk and 5K Fun Run!
Team Golomboski has always been about family, resilience, and community. My sister Alicia and I founded this team back in 2014 with one simple mission: to honor our father, Joseph Sr., and support him through his fight with Early On-Set Parkinson’s disease.
Watching our dad face PD taught us the true meaning of strength. Even though we lost him in 2019, his incredible fighting spirit is the heartbeat of this team. He is the reason we lace up our sneakers year after year, and he is the driving force behind my commitment to serving as both the Chair of the Walk Committee and the President of the APDA RI Chapter Board of Directors.
Over the last decade, Team Golomboski has grown into something truly remarkable. Thanks to the relentless dedication of our team members and the generosity of our supporters, we have raised over $20,000 for the APDA. But our work isn't done, and we are aiming higher than ever for 2026.
Every six minutes, someone is diagnosed with Parkinson's. The funds our team raises stay right here in our community to provide:
-
Crucial local support and educational programs for Rhode Islanders living with PD and their families.
-
Virtual lifelines that keep the community connected across the country.
-
Funding for cutting-edge scientific research to find better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
We need YOUR help to make this our biggest, most impactful year yet. Here is how you can support Team Golomboski:
-
Join the Team: Click the "Join Our Team" button to register for the walk or 5K and step up to the starting line with us!
-
Make a Donation: If you can't join us in person, you can still fuel our fight by clicking "Donate Today" to support our team goal.
Whether you've walked with us since 2014 or you are brand new to the Team Golomboski family, your support means the absolute world to us. Every step we take and every dollar we raise brings us closer to a world without Parkinson's.
Thank you for keeping our dad's memory alive, and for standing with Team Golomboski.
Let's Stand Strong Together!
