Steps Toward a Cure
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the APDA Northwest Chapter Optimism Walk.
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Since then, I’ve learned that Parkinson’s affects far more than movement alone — it touches many parts of daily life, not only for those living with it, but also for the families and friends who support them.
That’s why I’m participating in this walk and raising money for the American Parkinson Disease Association. Their work provides vital resources, education, and support for individuals and families navigating Parkinson’s, while also funding important research for better treatments and, one day, a cure.
I chose the team name Steps Toward a Cure because every step forward matters. Every donation, no matter the size, helps support people living with Parkinson’s today while bringing hope for tomorrow.
My fundraising goal of $172,339 is inspired by the approximately 1,723,392 inches in a marathon plus one extra mile. Parkinson’s is often described as a marathon, not a sprint, and those inches are a reminder that extraordinary achievements are built through small, steady steps and a determination to keep moving forward. The extra mile represents our shared commitment to go beyond what’s expected for every person and family affected by this disease. Every step, every mile, and every donation moves us closer to better treatments, greater hope, and, one day, a cure.
Kindness knows no boundaries. People from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds have supported this cause through my fundraising efforts with generosity, encouragement, and compassion, all united by a shared purpose: improving the lives of those living with Parkinson’s and helping make a cure possible. Every step we take together brings us a little closer to that goal.
