CAT Week Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
When is CAT Week?
The official 2026 CAT Week campaign runs September 29 through October 6. While the CAT Week challenge takes place during this eight-day period, team and program fundraising pages will remain open throughout the 2026–27 school year.
Where does my CAT Week gift go?
You choose the Lansing Catholic team or program you want to support. 100% of the net proceeds from your gift are designated directly to that team or program. Funds are tracked separately and made available to the selected program through the Lansing Catholic Business Office.
Does my CAT Week gift count toward the COR Fund?
No. CAT Week gifts are designated specifically to the athletic team or program selected by the donor and do not go to the COR Fund. Your CAT Week gift directly supports the program you choose.
What does "net proceeds" mean?
Net proceeds are the funds remaining after applicable online payment and credit card processing fees. Lansing Catholic does not redirect a percentage of your CAT Week gift to another athletic fund. Donors also have the option to cover processing fees when making an online gift.
How will my team or program use the money it raises?
Each team or program page highlights priorities identified by its coaches. CAT Week gifts provide additional resources to help address those needs and strengthen the student-athlete experience. Gifts are designated to the selected program rather than restricted to a specific purchase, and expenditures follow Lansing Catholic's normal approval and Business Office procedures.
How are team fundraising goals determined?
Goals are based primarily on the needs and priorities submitted by coaches and reviewed by Lansing Catholic Athletics. Other fundraising already completed by a program may also be considered. The goals are intended to provide each program with a meaningful fundraising target based on its individual circumstances.
What happens if a team raises more or less than its goal?
The goal is a target, not a cap or minimum requirement. A team or program keeps 100% of its net CAT Week proceeds, whether it exceeds its goal or does not reach it.
Can I support more than one team or program?
Absolutely. Because each gift is designated to a specific team or program, you will need to complete a separate transaction for each program you would like to support.
Can I give by cash or check?
Yes. Cash and check gifts are welcome and will be credited to the team or program you designate. Contact the Lansing Catholic Development Office for assistance with an offline CAT Week gift.
Can I make a recurring gift?
Yes. Recurring giving is available through the online giving form. Your recurring gifts will continue to support the team or program you selected throughout the school year.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. Simply select the anonymous giving option when making your online gift. Lansing Catholic will retain the information necessary to properly record and acknowledge your contribution, but your name will not be publicly displayed.
Can businesses support CAT Week?
Yes. Businesses are welcome to make a charitable CAT Week gift to a specific team or program. Businesses interested in recognition, season passes and other sponsorship benefits may also want to explore the Cougar Booster Club Sponsorship Program.
What is the difference between CAT Week and the Cougar Booster Club?
CAT Week and the Cougar Booster Club provide two different ways to support Lansing Catholic Athletics.
CAT Week is team and program specific. You choose where your gift goes, and 100% of the net proceeds are designated to that program. CAT Week gifts are charitable contributions and do not include donor benefits.
Cougar Booster Club sponsorships primarily support the Athletic Excellence Fund and broader priorities that benefit Lansing Catholic Athletics. Sponsorship levels also include benefits such as season passes and other recognition opportunities.
Together, the two programs provide complementary ways for our community to support Cougar Athletics.
What is the CAT Week Challenge?
During the official CAT Week campaign, participating teams and programs will have opportunities to earn additional funding provided by the Cougar Booster Club.
Challenge awards will recognize different types of fundraising success so there are multiple ways for programs to earn bonus dollars. The Booster Club will also be following CAT Week throughout the campaign, so watch for surprise challenges and bonus opportunities along the way!
Only eligible gifts received during the official CAT Week campaign period will count toward CAT Week Challenge results. Complete challenge details and winners will be announced by Lansing Catholic.
Which teams and programs can participate in the CAT Week Challenge?
All participating CAT Week programs are eligible, including Lansing Catholic athletic teams, Marching Band, Strength & Conditioning, Lansing Catholic Youth Athletics and participating co-op programs.
Can I still give after CAT Week ends?
Yes! Although the official CAT Week campaign and challenge end October 6, individual team and program giving pages will remain available throughout the 2026–27 school year. Gifts made after CAT Week will still benefit the program you select but will not count toward CAT Week Challenge results.
Can I give through a donor-advised fund or employer matching gift program?
Yes. Lansing Catholic can accept donor-advised fund gifts and eligible employer matching gifts and designate them to a specific team or program. Because these gifts sometimes require additional processing time, please contact the Development Office for assistance.
Is my CAT Week gift tax-deductible?
Lansing Catholic High School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Online donors receive an electronic confirmation of their gift, and Lansing Catholic provides year-end charitable giving documentation in accordance with its normal acknowledgment procedures. Please consult your tax adviser regarding your individual circumstances.
Who should I contact with questions about CAT Week or my gift?
Please contact Jeremy Frew, Director of Development, at jeremy.frew@lansingcatholic.org with questions about CAT Week, gifts, donor-advised funds, matching gifts or other giving options.
