Why I LUNGe Forward: I used to talk to my mom on the way home from school every day. She was a teacher and spent the end of her career with kindergartners. She loved kids SO much. My mom was patient, encouraging, and nurturing. I started my teaching career the year after she retired. She listened to me vent about my day, gave me advice, and was always my biggest supporter. I started my team, Sandy’s Survivors, to fight back against cancer in memory of my mom. I hope to prevent other families from experiencing the devastating effects of this disease. My mom modeled the importance of selflessness and generosity in our family and in her teaching. I may not be able to call her on my way home these days, but I can keep her memory alive by carrying on her commitment to helping others.
