The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

With a donation made to my page, you can help support thousands of cancer patients, survivors, care partners, and their loved ones. Gifts of any amount will provide no-cost support for years to come.

in 2008 I heard about the first Dempsey Challenge coming in 2009. I thought about my Mom, who fought two different cancers after age 60. I had finally quit smoking. I walked Back Cove in Portland nearly every day at the time, there wasn't any reason I couldn't run a 5k!, right? Well other than the fact that my knees sounded like bubble wrap when I walked up stairs! I went to check in with an Ortho who advised against running. I ignored him and went for it! I decided I was going to do the Dempsey Challenge!

18+ years later I have run, I have walked, I have biked and walked, I have biked, and I've had CANCER. I've become a client of the Dempsey Center, not just a fundraiser. I've watched family members and friends suffer with cancer. I have watched people battle and lose, I've watched them battle and win... though as a current winner, I can't imagine the day I stop being scared.
