Cancer sucks. In 2015, lung cancer took my dad. In 2019, I was diagnosed with colon cancer after my first routine colonoscopy. It was nothing compared to the cancer journeys that some people go through, but it sure does make you refocus your priorities in life when you are slapped in the face with your mortality.
The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost. Support during those times for yourself and for those in your life willing to go on that journey with you is critical to getting through and coming out whole.
