This will be my 8th Dempsey Challenge bike ride. It all started by my family trying to find a way to honor my mother. She use to do this annually with her fiance. They started this because both of their moms had battled with cancer. Getting to see Patrick Dempsey was a bonus for her. She found him dreamy and very kind to his roots. Not long after registering for this, we learned my mother in law was starting her battle with it too. Cancer affects so many of us in differecnt ways shapes or forms. So we need to fight this together. This challenge has become an event my family and I look forward to every year because we know it's helping others, keeping memories alive and building new ones along the way. The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
