The Hawaiʻi Center for AIDS (HICFA) advances research, education, and clinical care for HIV and other emerging infections in Hawaiʻi.

At the HICFA, we spend our days at the forefront of clinical trials and research. But we know a truth that no microscope can show: Medicine is only as effective as the community’s ability to access it.

We are walking because research doesn't exist in a vacuum. While we work to identify optimal therapies and understand HIV at a basic science level, our partners at the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center are on the front lines fighting through the obstacles that keeps people from seeking care.

In 2026, we refuse to let silence erase the scientific and health progress we’ve made. We walk to protect LGBTQIA+ rights, to defend harm reduction, and to ensure that the life-saving discoveries made in our labs actually reach the people who need them most. Silence is a barrier to science. We walk to break it.
