Join us for the 18th Kickathon Fundraising Challenge!

Kickathon 2026

In the weeks before the event, students engage in active fundraising to reach their personal financial and sponsorship goals. The day of the event, participants of different age levels get to complete their own kicking goals and participate in a community celebration. For some of us it’s our favorite day of the year.

On November 14, 2026 we will gather for a kicking marathon (hence KICKATHON). Our youngest students will do two hundred kicks, while older kids do five hundred. Adult members will continue on and accomplish the task of a thousand kicks each.

Register now as an individual or as a team to start fundraising today.

Primary goal

Make self defense and martial arts training available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

Why we need your help

  • Our fee-based system doesn’t completely cover our expenses.
  • We need to continue to create a safe space where everyone can be challenged mentally, physically, and spiritually in our traditional martial arts program.
  • We want our members to learn the life-changing skills of empowerment self defense.
  • We need to spread the message to our community that everyone has a right to defend themselves, no one should be the target of bullies, and we all have the power to stand up for ourselves and for others.

How does martial arts training help our students?

Seido Karate training at Sun Dragon benefits students physically by improving their coordination, balance, agility, increasing flexibility and building strength.  Students grow emotionally, learning to better understand themselves, read others and social situations, and create a better-balanced life inside and outside of the dojo.  Sun Dragon is built on the twin foundations of Seido Karate and Empowerment Self Defense, which work together to help our students learn to care about their friends, set boundaries in their relationships, explore strategies for when things go wrong, and learn to expect respect from others and extend it in turn.

We reach out into our community, leading violence prevention workshops in elementary, middle, and high schools, Girl Scout troops, and other community groups, extending our mission beyond the walls of the dojo.  In our mission statement, we claim the power to end violence in our community. This assertion may seem beyond the reach of a relatively small nonprofit, but it begins one student at a time, one dojo at a time, one school room at a time.  Your support helps us reach the next student!

Our doors are open to people of all races, genders, ages, and sexual orientations.
