Earlier this year, I joined the board of Little Lights, an organization serving children, youth, and families in public housing communities near Capitol Hill and neighborhoods in Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, DC.

Through tutoring, mentorship, college and career support, family economic empowerment programs, and efforts to help people better understand and address racial inequity, Little Lights invests deeply in young people, families, and communities. This work is rooted in a genuine Christian commitment to loving neighbors.

What has encouraged me is seeing the extraordinary young people at the center of this work, along with the staff, volunteers, and community members who invest in them every day. In a season when it's natural to lament injustice and division, Little Lights has reminded me that hope is still being built every day through relationships, commitment, and community.
